#NoTaxationWithoutRepresentation

This is going to be a rough looking one…

I promise I’ll come back and polish this.

I just want to get it out while I have time.

As I type, I have been on hold wiht the IRS for 28:42.

I have pressed more than 40 numbers into the keypad, this not counting the phone number I dialed into.

The song is repetetive and “our representatives are still helping other costumers”.

“Costumers”…

Is that what we are to the IRS? Costumers?

An agent came on the line. He just asked me to identify myself. After I identified myself through the machine. With button presses.

If we don’t trust the foking things, then get rid of them and hire more people like “John” then.

#TheseAreNotNewProblems.

Why am I doing the work of computers?

“John” hears my issue.

I owed money according to my 2019 return. I paid my penalty for lack of insurance and have my statement to confirm. Even on the IRS site it shows my payment was received (there’s no confirmation number because shit design). “John” asks if I can give him the check number I sent in. I tell him I paid over the internet #TheFutureIsNow. He says he is going to check, tells me it should take 5 to 7 minutes and places me on hold. When he comes back he fumbles as through an explanation. There’s no issue and everything is in order, it had something to do with using the direct pay option and the implication here is that I marked the wrong box somewhere so even though the site registered the funds, it didn’t trigger the funds being received so I was flagged for those lovely IRS collection letters. The way he explains it to me makes it sound as if he had just found a physical envelope sitting in a pile of other envelopes. He says it should take another 5 to 6 minutes to transfer things where they need to be and I could disregard the notices. I ask for confirmation number. “John” explains that there’s no way for him to do that, but he can send me a letter saying they where going to  hunt me down. I thank him for his help.
